India ‘Strongly’ Advises Nationals to Leave Lebanon Amid Rising Tensions

Beirut: In light of escalating tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, the Indian Embassy in Beirut has issued a strong advisory urging Indian nationals to avoid travelling to Lebanon and for those already in the country to leave immediately. The advisory was posted on X.

Since October of last year, violence has erupted along the border between Israeli forces and Hezbollah.

On Tuesday, Israel conducted a strike in southern Beirut, targeting and killing Hezbollah’s top military commander, Fouad Shukur. This action was in response to a rocket attack over the weekend in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, which resulted in the deaths of 12 youths.

The embassy’s advisory outlines the increasing risks in the region following the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Iran on Wednesday, shortly after Shukur’s killing. This series of events signals a potential for further dangerous escalations in West Asia.

Indian nationals in Lebanon are advised to exercise extreme caution, limit their movements, and stay in contact with the Embassy of India in Beirut. The embassy can be contacted via email at [email protected] or the emergency phone number +96176860128.
