New Delhi: As revealed in the interim budget, the revised estimates for 2023-24 state that the Indian government provided Rs 6,541.79 crore to foreign governments.
This includes Rs 4,927.43 crore given as a grant and Rs 1,614.36 crore as a loan. This surpassed the budget estimates of Rs 848.58 crore for 2023-24.
The top recipients of grants from India are:
- Bhutan – Rs 2398.97 crore (including ₹1614.36 crore loan)
- Maldives – Rs 770.90 crore
- Nepal – Rs 650 crore
- Myanmar – Rs 370 crore
- Mauritius – Rs 330 crore
- Afghanistan – Rs 220 crore
- Bangladesh – Rs 130 crore
- Sri Lanka – Rs 60 crore
- Seychelles – Rs 9.91 crore
- Mongolia- Rs 5 crore
The estimated grants and loans for 2024-25 stand at Rs 5,667.56 crore. It’s important to note that this interim budget is a vote-on-account, and the complete budget is anticipated in July after the new government takes charge.
