Chennai: The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 culminates in a much-anticipated finale between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Sunday at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

KKR, led by the astute guidance of mentor Gautam Gambhir, have been the standout team this season. They topped the group stage and comfortably dispatched SRH in Qualifier 1, showcasing their dominance. SRH, on the other hand, endured a rollercoaster campaign before finding their footing in the knockouts, overcoming a resilient Rajasthan Royals to reach the final.

The arrival of Pat Cummins and Daniel Vettori as captain and coach, respectively, has revitalized SRH after three underwhelming seasons. Cummins’ aggressive leadership and bowling prowess have been instrumental in SRH’s success, leaving opponents apprehensive.

This is the third time KKR and SRH will meet this season, with KKR prevailing on both prior occasions. The first encounter was a nail-biting finish at Eden Gardens, while the second was a one-sided affair in Ahmedabad. SRH will be desperate to overturn the script and clinch their second IPL title under Cummins’ captaincy.

The Chennai sky is expected to be cloudy on Sunday, offering a welcome respite from the scorching heat. While there’s a slight chance of light rain, it shouldn’t disrupt the high-voltage clash.
