Judicial Custody of NewsClick Founder Extended Till Dec 1

New Delhi: The judicial custody of NewsClick founder Prabir Purkayastha and its HR department head Amit Chakravarty was extended till December 1 by a Delhi court on Thursday.

Special Judge Hardeep Kaur sent both the accused to jail after they were produced before the court on expiry of their custodial interrogation by Delhi Police granted on October 25.

The two were arrested on October 3.

Delhi Police Special Cell arrested them under sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) UAPA Act and the IPC. Both were accused of receiving foreign funds from China to disrupt India’s sovereignty and cause disaffection against the country.
