Mallikarjun Kharge to Attend PM Modi’s Oath-Taking Ceremony Today

New Delhi: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge is set to attend Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s swearing-in ceremony today in his capacity as the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, as announced by the Congress in a statement.

However, Trinamool Congress, an INDIA Bloc partner, will not be present at the ceremony.

In other developments, the Congress Working Committee (CWC) convened recently, urging Rahul Gandhi to accept the role of Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha. While Gandhi deferred his decision, Sonia Gandhi was confirmed as the chairperson of the Congress Parliamentary Party.

Kharge remarked on the election results, stating it as a “decisive rejection” of divisive politics. He highlighted the need for urgent remedial measures to address shortcomings in states where the party’s performance fell short.

Following a comprehensive three-hour discussion, the CWC outlined plans to establish committees to assess the party’s performance across all states, including those under its governance.

The swearing-in ceremony on Sunday will witness the presence of dignitaries from various nations, including Sri Lanka, Maldives, Seychelles, Bangladesh, Mauritius, Nepal, and Bhutan, alongside PM Modi, who is poised to begin his historic third consecutive term.
