Leopard Escapes from Quarantine Centre Near Pune Zoo

Pune: A leopard managed to escape from a quarantine centre located near a zoo in Maharashtra’s Pune city on Monday.

The leopard was born at a zoo in Karnataka. It was recently brought to the Rajiv Gandhi Zoological Park in the Katraj area in Pune and was quarantined.

Efforts were on to track down and capture the escaped big cat. The entire area has been cordoned off. Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) officials and personnel of the fire department are searching inside and around the quarantine centre premises.

According to PMC officials, the leopard was in the vicinity of the quarantine facility and has been spotted in the CCTV footage. The leopard is suspected to be hiding in thick bushes near the quarantine centre.

Thermal drones are being used to locate the escaped leopard.
