Lightning Kills a Farmer, Injures Minor Girl in Balasore Dist

Balasore: A peasant died and a minor girl was seriously injured in two separate incidents of lightning strikes at two villages in the Bhograi block of Balasore district on Wednesday.

The deceased farmer was identified as Bachu Das of Bichitrapur village in Kanthibhaunri panchayat. He was struck by lightning while he was working in his paddy field.

A minor girl of Chapapalasia village was struck by lightning while she was to the agricultural field of her family.

Both lightning victims were admitted to the Government Hospital in Jaleswar. Bachu died during treatment.

A woman named Meena Gangai of Rasalpur village was critically injured when a tree fell on her during the sudden thundershower in the area on Wednesday. She is admitted

to the Balasore district headquarters hospital.
