Maharashtra Cop Who Underwent Sex Change Becomes Father

Mumbai: A Maharashtra police constable, who underwent a sex change operation to become Lalit from Lalita a few years back has become a father. His wife gave birth to a baby boy on January 15.

This police constable, who is known as Lalit Kumar Salve after the sex change operation, is a resident of Rajegaon in Majalgaon taluka of Beed district of Maharashtra. He got married to a woman named Seema in 2020.

He was born Lalita Salve in June 1988 and joined the Maharashtra police force in 2010 as a woman. But when changes occurred in her body in 2013, medical investigation proved that she had XY chromosomes like males. The females have XX chromosomes.

After getting permission from the state government, this police constable underwent three surgeries between 2018 and 2020 to become a man.

Talking to reporters, Salve said, “I am happy that I have become a father now. My family is thrilled.”
