Israel Embassy Asks Citizens to Explore Indian Beaches After Maldives Bans Israeli Tourists

New Delhi: In response to the Maldives’ recent ban on the entry of Israeli passport holders, the Israel Embassy in India is encouraging Israeli tourists to explore the beaches of India. Highlighting the warm hospitality awaiting them, the embassy has suggested destinations such as Goa, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, and Kerala.

On social media platform X, the embassy stated, “Since the Maldives is no longer welcoming Israelis, here are some beautiful and amazing Indian beaches where Israeli tourists are warmly welcomed and treated with utmost hospitality.” Accompanying the post were picturesque images of the mentioned locations.

Kobbi Shoshani, the Israeli Consul General in Mumbai, also commented on a previous post by Prime Minister Narendra Modi praising Lakshadweep’s natural beauty. Shoshani remarked, “Thanks to the Maldives Government’s decision Israelis can now explore the beautiful beaches of #Lakshadweep.”

This promotional effort follows the Maldives government’s announcement to ban Israeli passport holders from entering their country. Maldives’ Homeland Security and Technology Minister, Ali Ihsaan, revealed this decision during a news conference, stating that necessary laws would be amended to enforce this ban.

The Maldives’ stance is part of a broader initiative in support of Palestine amidst the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict in Gaza. President Mohamed Muizzu has also decided to appoint a special envoy to assess Palestinian needs and launch a fundraising campaign in collaboration with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees.
