Maoists and CRPF Personnel Exchange Fire in  Sunabeda Sanctuary in Nuapada Dist

Nuapada: An exchange of fire occurred between the Maoists and the CRPF personnel near the Barakote ghat area inside the Sunabeda sanctuary in Nuapada district in the wee hours on Friday.

Receiving information about the presence of ultras in the area, the security personnel had taken up a combing operation in the region. According to reports, a group of Maoists suddenly started firing at the security personnel between 5 am and 5.30 am in the Barakote ghat area while the CRPF personnel were returning from Sunabeda Wildlife Sanctuary.

The CRPF personnel retaliated following which the Maoists preferred to escape from the spot taking advantage of the dense forest.

Till now no injury from any side has been reported in this encounter. Following the incident, the security personnel have intensified combing operation in the area.
