Mayawati’s BSP Unlikely to Win a Single Seat in UP

New Delhi: Mayawati’s Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) is unlikely to win any seat in Uttar Pradesh in this Lok Sabha Election.

Her BSP contested in 80 seats in Uttar Pradesh. But none of her candidates is in the lead.

The 68-year-old Mayawati had been Chief Minister of UP in 1995, 1997, 2002 and 2007 and was also a Member of Parliament.

In 2024, her BSP decided to fight it alone and she was termed “BJP’s B Team” by the INDIA bloc. The BSP, once known as a party of Dalits, has suffered a severe blow to its reputation in the recent polls.

Going by the trends, the Dalit vote in Uttar Pradesh appears to have shifted to the INDIA bloc. Ahead of the election a majority of BSP’s 10 MPs moved to the BJP and the SP.
