Minor Brother, Sister Drown in Kusumi River in Nayagarh District

Nayagarh: Two minor siblings drowned in the Kusumi river while bathing near Baunsiapada village under Itamati police station limits in Odisha’s Nayagarh district on Thursday morning.

The deceased were Kajal and Sai of Baunsiapada village.

The minor brother and sister were bathing in the river along with their mother when the mishap occurred. Both children fell into the strong currents of the river and were swept away.

Hearing the mother’s call for help, the villagers rushed to the spot and rescued Kajal and Sai from the river in unconscious condition. They were rushed to the local hospital, where the doctors declared them dead.

Personnel of the Itamati police station have registered a case of unnatural death and are investigating.
