Newborn Missing from Balangir Med College Rescued from Boudh Dist

Balangir: A newborn boy, who went missing from the special newborn care unit (SNCU) of the Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital (BBMCH) in Balangir on Friday, was rescued from Ghantapada village in Boudh district.

Sushil Swain’s wife from Baradipadar village in Boudh district had given birth to this baby at the obstetrics and gynaecology department of the BBMCH on Friday morning.

As per doctor’s instruction, a family member of Sushil had admitted the infant to SNCU of the BBMCH. But after sometime the baby was found missing.

The worried family lodged a complaint at the outpost of the BBMCH.

Investigation by the Balangir Town police led to the rescue of the baby from a couple residing at Ghantapada village in Boudh district.

According to sources, this couple was upset following the birth of baby girl, so they abducted Susil’s son from the hospital.

Police are interrogating the couple and investigating the case for further legal action.
