NIA’s Anti-Terror Team Attacked in West Bengal

Kolkata: A team of NIA officials were attacked in West Bengal on Saturday morning while they were returning to Kolkata after arresting two persons in connection with a case.

The NIA team conducted raids at Bhupatinagar as part of the ongoing investigation over a bomb blast case in 2022.

As they commenced their search operation they were attacked by a hostile mob. The attackers allegedly assaulted some NIA officials and a vehicle’s windscreen.

According to the police, the NIA team had earlier in the day arrested two individuals linked to the bomb blast case and was en route to Kolkata when their vehicle was targeted by the mob. The attackers surrounded the vehicle and pelted stones at it.

Following the incident, extra police force was sent to the area to bring the situation under control.

On December 3, 2022, an explosion killed three individuals in a kutcha house in Bhupatinagar. The NIA took up the investigation of the case.
