Odia Leader Becomes MLA in Chhattisgarh

Raipur: Purandar Mishra, an Odia leader was elected from Raipur City (North) Assembly constituency in Chhattisgarh on.

As a BJP candidate, Mishra defeated Kuldeep Singh Juneja of the Congress party by a margin of 23,054 votes.

Mishra hails from the Padmapur area of Odisha’s Bargarh district. He is a lawyer by profession. He is well known among Odias living in Raipur and other parts of Chhattisgarh for his efforts for the establishment of a Jagannath temple in Raipur.

It was Mishra’s maiden electoral battle although he is associated with the BJP for long.

Raipur city has a sizeable population of 4 lakh Odias. The BJP is all set to form government in Chhattisgarh.
