Odisha Announces Cash Awards For State Players In Medal-Winning Indian Hockey Teams

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has announced cash awards today to honour exceptional achievements by hockey players from the state. These awards recognize outstanding performances at the international level, underscoring Odisha’s strong legacy in the sport.

Amit Rohidas and Deep Grace Ekka will each receive Rs 3,75,000 for their stellar displays representing India at the 2023 Men’s and Women’s Asian Championship Trophies, respectively. The Asian Championship Trophy, a biennial continental competition, saw remarkable performances by these athletes.

Additionally, Mariana Kujur, Jyoti Chhatri, and Ajmina Kujur have been awarded Rs 12,50,000 each for their contributions to the Indian Women’s Hockey Team. They played pivotal roles in securing a Silver Medal at the inaugural edition of the FIH Hockey 5s Women’s World Cup 2024 held in Muscat, Oman. Notably, the FIH Hockey 5s World Cup occurs once every four years.
