Section 144 Imposed in Odisha’s Bargarh District For Vote Counting

Bargarh: Prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC have been enforced in select areas of Odisha’s Bargarh district to ensure peace during and after the counting of votes for the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections on Tuesday.

Officials confirmed the restrictions are in effect in Bargarh sub-division and within the Padampur and Bijepur Assembly constituencies. According to Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Kumar Nagabhushan, unlawful assemblies and public meetings are prohibited on the counting day.

A robust three-tier security system is being established at all counting venues to block unauthorized access. Additionally, victory processions post-results are banned to avert potential clashes.

Padampur SDM Arun Kumar Patel has similarly mandated Section 144 restrictions around the counting centres for the Padampur and Bijepur constituencies.
