Odisha Cabinet Approves 3 Proposals Including 10% Reservation for Ex-Agniveers

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Cabinet on Thursday approved three major proposals.

The Cabinet approved to framing of the Odisha Ex-Agniveers (Recruitment to Uniform Services) Rules, 2024 to provide opportunities to ex-Agniveers to get jobs in uniform service like Police, Forest, Excise, Fire or any services as decided by the government from time to time in all Group ‘C” and “D” posts in direct recruitment.

Such reservation shall be over and above the reservation applicable for ex-servicemen provided they fulfil the required minimum qualifications prescribed for the posts in the relevant recruitment rules as on the date of award of Agniveer certificate.

The Odisha Cabinet has also given the nod for a proposal to frame new rules to appoint unmarried daughters of deceased government employees under the rehabilitation assistance scheme. As per the decision, a daughter of a government employee, who dies while being in service, will be rehabilitated on compassionate grounds.

Even step daughters if unmarried can be eligible to replace their deceased fathers, as per the Cabinet decision. If a government employee dies during his service tenure, then his daughter/step daughter, who are unmarried can be given his post on compassionate grounds under the rehabilitation scheme,” said chief secretary Manoj Ahuja.

Added to it, the cabinet also approved the transfer of equity shares to Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited (APSEZ) from Shapoorji Pallonji Port Maintenance Private Limited and from Odisha Stevedores Limited and signing of Revised Concession Agreement between Directorate of Ports & IWT, C&T Department and Gopalpur Ports Ltd (GPL).
