Odisha Cabinet Approves Key Proposals: Wage Hike, Teacher Recruitment & Cultural Initiatives

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, approved five major proposals in their meeting held on Wednesday.

Wage Hike for Labourers: The daily wages for unskilled labourers in Odisha have been increased from Rs. 392 to Rs. 500, while skilled labourers will see their wages rise from Rs. 502 to Rs. 600 per day.

Teacher Appointments: The cabinet has sanctioned the appointment of 18,788 teachers, addressing a critical need in the state’s educational sector.

Elevating Balijatra’s Status: A proposal to seek international recognition for the Balijatra festival, Asia’s largest open-air fair held in Cuttack, has been approved and will be forwarded promptly.

Odia Ashmita Fund: A  ₹200 crore corpus fund has been allocated for the promotion of Odia culture, including the establishment of Odia Ashmita Bhawan and an Odia translation academy.

Palm Leaf Manuscript Museum: A museum dedicated to preserving and showcasing talapatra pothi (palm leaf manuscripts) will be established, highlighting Odisha’s rich literary heritage.
