Odisha’s Pabitra Sahu Bags Silver Medal in Wheelchair Fencing Under-23 World Championships

Bhubaneswar: Pabitra Sahu of Odisha won a silver medal in the 2024 Wheelchair Fencing Under-23 World Championships in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand.

In this men’s wheelchair fencing event held on April 21, Clemens Cursiefen (Germany) won the gold and Kevin Damasceno (Brazil) and Phoopa Sae-Sim (Thailand) settled for bronze.

Leading 13-9 at one point, the Odisha fencer could not handle the pressure against the German wheelchair fencer.

Sahu was the only Indian competitor in this World U-23 Championships.

Sahu hails from the Dhenkanal district.
