OpenAI Employees Threaten Mass Resignation to Protest Against Altman’s sacking as CEO

Over 500 employees of OpenAI threatened the company’s board that they may resign in protest against Sam Altman’s sacking as CEO. They demanded the OpenAI board to resign.

Through a joint letter to the OpenAi board, they have stated that they may quit and join Altman at Microsoft unless the startup’s board resigns. They have also demanded Altman to be reinstated as CEO.

OpenAI’s chief scientist, Ilya Sutskever, is also among the employees protesting against the removal of Altman. In a post on X, Sutskever said “Now I deeply regret my participation in the board’s actions. I never intended to harm OpenAI. I love everything we’ve built together and I will do everything I can to reunite the company”.

Meanwhile, OpenAI has appointed former Twitch CEO Emmett Shear as its new CEO. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has declared that Altman will lead Microsoft’s new advanced AI research team.
