Pakistan Appoints Yasin Malik’s Wife as Advisor to Caretaker PM

Pakistan appointed Mushaal Hussain Malik, wife of the jailed Kashmiri separatist leader Yasin Malik, as a special advisor to the country’s newly appointed caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar.

Mushaal will be a special advisor to the caretaker PM Kakar on human rights and women empowerment.

Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Yasin married Pakistani Mushaal in Rawalpindi in 2009. The two came together while Yasin was touring Pakistan in 2005.

Mushaal along with her daughter stays in Islamabad. She has graduated from the London School of Economics.

Yasin Malik was convicted in a terror funding case in May and was sentenced to life imprisonment by the trial court. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has approached the Delhi High Court seeking the death penalty for Yasin.

Yasin is now lodged in Tihar Jail in Delhi.
