PM Modi Announces ₹2 Lakh Relief For Families Of Those Killed In Hathras Stampede

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic stampede in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh. He has announced an ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh for the families of the deceased and ₹50,000 for the injured.

The stampede occurred during a religious congregation at a ‘satsang’ event in Pulrai village, where a large crowd had gathered. The unfortunate incident claimed at least 87 lives and left several others injured.

Addressing the Parliament during a two-day debate on the motion of thanks on the President’s address, PM Modi conveyed his condolences and wished a speedy recovery for the injured. He assured that senior central government officials are in constant contact with the Uttar Pradesh administration to coordinate relief efforts.

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) confirmed the financial aid through a post on X, stating that ₹2 lakh would be given to the next of kin of each deceased and ₹50,000 to those injured.

Senior officials reported that among the deceased were 23 women, three children, and a man. Victims, both deceased and unconscious, were transported to medical facilities in Sikandara Rao for treatment.

Hathras MP Anoop Pradhan described the incident as extremely unfortunate. He mentioned that district officials and the superintendent of police are actively managing the situation, with victims receiving treatment in nearby hospitals.
