PM Modi Meets President, Stakes Claim To Form Government; Oath Ceremony On June 9

New Delhi: In a unanimous decision, the alliance partners of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) on Friday elected Narendra Modi as their leader, paving the way for him to serve a third term as Prime Minister.

Following this endorsement, Modi assured that the NDA government would deliver good governance and expressed gratitude to the citizens for their continued support.

President Droupadi Murmu has invited Modi to form the government at the Centre, following the NDA’s submission of its list of MPs on Friday after the NDA meeting. According to reports, Narendra Modi is expected to be sworn in as Prime Minister on June 9 (Sunday).

This morning, newly elected MPs of the NDA convened at the Central Hall of the old Parliament Building to discuss cabinet formation ahead of the swearing-in ceremony. The NDA secured a decisive majority in the Lok Sabha elections, winning 293 seats. However, the BJP’s tally stood at 240 seats, a decrease from its 2019 performance.

At the NDA parliamentary party meeting, senior BJP leader Pralhad Joshi announced that all 21 NDA leaders had signed a resolution electing Modi as their leader. The resolution lauded Modi’s contributions to nation-building, poverty alleviation, and overall development, emphasizing the collective effort of the alliance.
