Polling Agent Dies in a Booth in Hindol Assembly Constituency

Dhenkanal: At booth number 136 in the Hindol Assembly constituency under Dhenkanal Lok Sabha seat, a polling agent reportedly passed away during the polling process on Saturday.

The polling agent identified as Sukadev Patnaik from the Bahalunda area reportedly died soon after falling sick during the conduct of polling.

As per reports, the agent fell unconscious at around 9:30 am inside the booth. He was immediately rushed to a hospital where the doctors declared him dead.

It is suspected that Patnaik may have died due to heatstroke. His body was sent for post mortem to ascertain the cause of death.

In another incident, an elderly woman voter died while she had come to exercise her franchise at a booth in Nayagarh.

As per reports, the deceased was identified as 65-year-old Kumuduni Dalei of Patharpunji village in Nayagarh district. According to sources, she fell unconscious while she was standing in the queue to vote. She was shifted to a local hospital, where she was declared dead.
