Prajwal Revanna Sent to 14-Day Judicial Custody in Sexual Assault Case

Bengaluru: Former JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna, accused of rape and sexual abuse by multiple women, has been remanded to 14-day judicial custody by a court.

The 33-year-old, grandson of JD(S) patriarch H D Deve Gowda, lost the recent polls in Hassan constituency.

After his Special Investigation Team (SIT) custody ended, Prajwal Revanna was presented before the 42nd Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) court, which extended his custody till June 10. Following a thorough investigation by the SIT, including gathering evidence and questioning witnesses, the court decided to place him in judicial custody till June 24, considering the severity of the allegations and evidence presented.

Prajwal Revanna was arrested upon his arrival at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport from Germany on May 31. He had left for Germany on April 27, a day after the polls in Hassan. The Interpol had issued a ‘Blue Corner Notice’ regarding his whereabouts, upon the request of the SIT via the Central Bureau of Investigation.

Charges against him stem from a case registered on April 28 in Holenarasipura, Hassan district, where he stands accused of sexually harassing a former maid. His father and MLA, H D Revanna, is also implicated in the case. Prajwal Revanna faces allegations in three cases of sexual assault, including rape charges.

The allegations surfaced after explicit videos allegedly involving Prajwal Revanna were circulated in Hassan ahead of the Lok Sabha polls on April 26. Following these developments, JD(S) suspended him from the party.
