Prajwal Revanna’s SIT Custody Extended Till June 10

Bengaluru: A special court on Thursday extended the custody of former JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) until June 10. Revanna faces multiple charges of rape and sexual abuse.

The 33-year-old, grandson of JD(S) leader and ex-Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, was previously remanded to SIT custody on May 31, which was set to expire on June 6. He was produced before the special court for elected representatives, which acknowledged the need for further investigation. The SIT requested additional time to gather evidence and thoroughly interrogate the accused.

Revanna was arrested at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport on May 31, following his return from Germany. He had travelled to Germany on April 27, a day after the Hassan constituency went to polls. An Interpol Blue Corner Notice, requested by the SIT through the Central Bureau of Investigation, was issued to ascertain his whereabouts.

On May 18, the Special Court for Elected Representatives issued an arrest warrant for Revanna, based on an SIT application. His arrest stems from a case filed in Holenarasipura, Hassan district, on April 28, where he is accused of sexually harassing a 47-year-old former maid. His father, MLA HD Revanna, is listed as the primary accused in the case.

Prajwal Revanna faces charges in three sexual assault cases, including rape.
