President Droupadi Murmu Addresses in the New parliament Building for 1st Time

New Delhi: At the start of the Budget Session, President Droupadi Murmu addressed a joint sitting of both Houses of Parliament on Wednesday.

The President said, “This is my first address in the new Parliament building which was built at the beginning of ‘Amrit Kaal’.”

She congratulated PM Modi for passing the women’s reservation bill.

She lauded the construction of the Ram temple. It has been a dream of centuries, it is a reality now, President Murmu said.

She was all praises for the economic growth of the country. In the last 10 years, nearly 25 crore people have come out of poverty, she said, adding, “In the last 10 years, we have seen India become one of the top five economies from ‘Fragile 5’.”

According to her, the country’s inflation rate, which used to be in double digits, is now within 4 per cent.

“We have been hearing slogans of eradicating poverty for long; now for the first time, we are seeing poverty being eradicated on a large scale,” President Murmu said.
