Rahul Gandhi Reinstated as Lok Sabha MP

New Delhi: Following a stay on his conviction in a criminal defamation case over his ‘Modi surname’ remark, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday was today reinstated to the parliament.

He will be back in the Lok Sabha to represent his constituency Wayanad at a time when the Opposition bloc INDIA’s has moved a no-confidence motion against the Modi government.

INDIA alliance leaders celebrated his return to the Lok Sabha.

Congress tweeted the official notification from the Lok Sabha Secretariat, calling it a “Victory of love against hate”.

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor called it “a victory for justice and for our democracy”.

Mr Gandhi was disqualified in May after he received a two-year jail term in a defamation case following his comments regarding ‘Modi’ surname at a rally in Karnataka’s Kolar ahead of the 2019 general election.
