Russia’s Presidential Election on March 17, 2024

Russia will have the presidential election on March 17, 2024. The date for the election was decided through a vote in the upper house or Federation Council of the Russian parliament on Thursday.

The Federation Council unanimously passed the decision by 162 votes.

For the first time, residents of the parts of Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhya and Kherson regions of Ukraine annexed by Russia would take part in the polling.

President Vladimir Putin has not yet officially announced whether he will again contest for a new six-year presidential term or not.
