Sheikh Hasina Will Return To Bangladesh For Polls, Says Son Joy

New Delhi: Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will return to her country when elections will be held by the new caretaker government, said her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy.

After resigning from the post of Prime Minister on Monday, Hasina escaped to India. A caretaker government led by Nobel Peace laureate Muhammad Yunus took oath on Thursday. This interim government will hold an election in the violence torn country.

In an interview with the Times of India, Hasina’s son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, who resides in the US, said, “I am sure the Awami League will take part in the election and we might even win,” he said.(Hasina) is in India. She will go back to Bangladesh the moment the interim government decides to hold an election.”

Hasina’s Awami League party is not part of the recently formed interim government in Bangladesh. Joy said that he will not refrain from joining politics if that is needed.

Hasina is now sheltered in a safe house in the New Delhi area. According to media, she is trying for asylum in Britain.
