Telangana Mulls Ban on Kangana Ranaut’s ‘Emergency’ After Sikh Community’s Concerns

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has pledged to review the Sikh community’s request for a ban on the upcoming film ‘Emergency’ starring Kangana Ranaut, pending legal advice. Government adviser Mohammad Ali Shabbir confirmed this in a statement on Thursday.

The Sikh community’s appeal was presented by a delegation of 18 members from the Telangana Sikh Society, led by former IPS officer Tejdeep Kaur Menon.

The group expressed concerns over the film’s portrayal of Sikhs, alleging it depicts them as terrorists and anti-nationals, which they argue is harmful and offensive.

Shabbir has relayed that the Chief Minister will make a final decision based on legal counsel.
