TPSODL Meter Reader Hacked to Death Over Inflated Electricity Bill

Berhampur: Shocked and irked by the inflated electricity bill, a consumer allegedly hacked the meter reader to death in the Tarsingh police station area of Ganjam district on Monday.

The deceased was a youth deputed by the electricity supply company for meter reading. He was murdered at Kupati village.

The identity of the deceased has not been ascertained, police sources said. But the assailant has managed to escape.

Personnel of the Galeri police outpost rushed to the spot to initiate an investigation.

As per initial reports, the accused was agitated over the high electricity bill. He blamed the meter reader for it and attacked him with a sharp weapon.
