Two Cousins Including a Cop Shot Dead in Subarnapur District

Sonepur: Two cousins including a police constable were found to be shot dead at Chulimala village under Binika police station limits in Odisha’s Subarnapur district on Tuesday.

The deceased were identified as Manoj Jhankar (30), a constable with the Subarnapur police and Seshadeva Jhankar (28). Their bodies with bullet injuries in their heads were found in a pool of blood in an open field. Service revolver of the constable was reportedly found near the bodies.

As per reports, villagers working in the nearby field rushed to the spot to find the two dead when they heard a loud noise. Manoj and Seshadeva were rushed to the Binika Community Health Center where the doctors declared them brought dead.

The local police are investigating the matter to determine the cause and circumstances that led to the shootout.

According to locals, the two deceased drank liquor at the spot along with another unidentified person, before they were killed. The police are investigating who the third person is. Subarnapur SP Yash Pratap Shrimal has reached the spot to lead the investigation. On Tuesday night, IG Himanshu Lal reached the spot and took stock of the situation.
