Wild Elephant Tramples 2 Persons to Death in Khurda’s Tangi

Khurda: Two persons were trampled to death by a wild elephant at Jaritapur village in Khurdha’s Tangi block in Odisha late on Sunday night.

The deceased were identified as Krushna Chandra Pradhan and Laxmidhar Behera.

The deceased faced the elephant attack while they were in their field to guard their harvested crop. When they saw a stray wild tusker destroying their harvest, they tried to drive away the pachyderm. The angry elephant attacked the duo and trampled them to death.

The villagers demanded the forest officials provide adequate compensation to the families of the both deceased and measures to prevent the wild elephants from entering the human habitat and damages to their standing crops.
