Wild Elephant Tramples Man in Balangir District

Balangir: A wild elephant trampled a man in Luhurenpali village in Udar panchayat under Deogaon police station limits in Balangir district on Monday morning. The critically injured victim is fighting for life at the Bhimabhoi Medical College and Hospital in Balangir.

The victim has been identified as Rabi Majhi.

Rabai came face to face with the wild elephant while he was on his way to the field. The elephant trampled him under its feet. But a group of villagers managed to shoo away the wild pachyderm and the victim was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

As per locals, this elephant was part of a herd of 10 elephants that is roaming in the in the Raipali area of the Deogaon forest range for the past 15 days.
