Woman Gang Raped in Sundargarh Dist, Two Accused Arrested

Rourkela: A 24-year-old woman was allegedly gang raped in Biramitrapur area of Sundargarh district on May 21 night. On Friday, two youths were arrested for allegedly raping the woman.

The arrested persons were identified as Sitaram (25) and Rajib Lugun (23).

According to police sources, the victim hailing from Kuanrmunda was raped on May 21, while she had come to her relative’s house. The accused Sitaram is a distant relative of the victim. On May 21 evening, the victim was alone as her relatives went to Rourkela for some work.

Sitaram and Rajib came on a bike to meet the victim at around 8 pm and took the woman with them for an outing.  However, they took the victim to a nearby jungle and raped her.

They threatened her not to reveal it to anyone. The victim informed about the incident to her relatives when they returned home. She registered a complaint regarding the incident at the Biramitrapur police station on May 22.

Police arrested the duo on Friday.
