World Cup 2023, PAK vs NED: Dutch Bowlers Shine as Pakistan Set 287-Run Target For Netherlands

Hyderabad: In their opening match of the 2023 ICC World Cup at Hyderabad today, Pakistan have set a target of 287 runs for the Netherlands after being put into bat. Pakistan faced early setbacks, losing top-order batsmen Fakhar Zaman (12), Imam ul Haq (15), and Babar Azam (5).

The Dutch bowlers put up a spirited effort to contain Pakistan. Bas de Leede was the pick of the bowlers, picking up four crucial wickets, while Colin Ackermann scalped two and Aryan Dutt, Logan van Beek and Paul van Meekeren chipped in with a wicket each.

However, a resilient partnership between Mohammed Rizwan (68) and Saud Shakeel (68) bolstered Pakistan’s innings, contributing 120 runs. This partnership alleviated the pressure from Pakistan.

Following their dismissals, Mohammad Nawaz played a crucial role, adding 39 runs to maintain the momentum. Shadab Khan also chipped in with 32 runs before being removed by Bas de Leede. It was due to some down the order hitting from the tail-enders that took Pak to 286.

Brief Scores: Pakistan 286/10 in 49 overs (Saud Shakeel 68, Rizwan 68, Bas de Leede 4/62, Colin Ackermann 2/39)
