Egyptian Billionaire Accused of Rape of Several Women A Year After His Death

In a BBC documentary, several women accused Egyptian billionaire Mohamed Al-Fayed, the former owner of upmarket London department store Harrods, of rape and sexual assault.

Fayed died in 2023 at the age of 94. He was a prominent figure in Britain. Fayed’s son Dodi was a confidant of the late Princess Diana, and he died along with her in a car crash in Paris in 1997.

The allegations of rape against Fayed were made in a BBC documentary and podcast.

More than 20 women have spoken to the BBC alleging assault and physical violence at his properties in London and Paris.

Five women said they had been raped by him. The documentary “Al Fayed: Predator at Harrods” is to be broadcast on Thursday.

In July 2023, Harrods began settling claims with women who came forward with claims of sexual abuse by Fayed from the late 1980s to the late 2000s.
