Petrol Price PKR 272.89/Litre in Pakistan Following PKR 13.55 Hike

The price of petrol reached Pakistan rupees (PKR) 272.89 per litre as the caretaker government of the cash-strapped Islamic country on Wednesday hiked the price of petrol by PKR13.55 per litre for next fortnight, reported Dawn News.

Earlier the price of petrol in Pakistan was PKR 259.34. The price of high-speed diesel (HSD) was increased by PKR 2.75 to PKR 278.96 per litre.

Pakistan’s public expected the prices of petrol and HSD to go up by PKR 5-9 per litre because of higher international prices and import premiums. But the hike in petrol price was higher.

Dawn News reported quoting informed sources that the prices of both major petroleum products had increased in the international market over the past fortnight and Pakistan State Oil (PSO) also had to pay higher import premiums even though the rupee had gained against the US dollar.
