Zomato will give Rs 10,000 compensation to customers for a Rs 300 pizza

Chandigarh: Food delivery company Zomato will pay Rs 10,000 as compensation to customers for a Rs 300 pizza. Chandigarh State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission issued this order to the company regarding a case of 2020 According to the information received; this action has been taken after receiving complaints from customers against Zomato.

The complaint, filed by a customer named Ajay Sharma, alleged that Zomato ran a campaign, which offered refunds if the food was not delivered on time.

According to Ajay Sharma, he ordered a pizza through the Zomato app in 2020. He paid Rs 287 for it, which included tax and an additional charge of Rs 10 for on-time delivery. However, 15 minutes after the order was booked, the company canceled it and refunded the money He said that if the order could not be delivered on time, then Zomato should not have accepted the order.

According to Sharma, the company canceled the order after 15 minutes and approached the Chandigarh State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission on the matter. After hearing his complaint, the court ordered Zomato to pay Rs 10,000 as compensation to the customer and provide a free meal to Ajay Sharma.
