Her uncle was arrested for alleged rape and murder. The parents of the girl are from Bihar and work in an industrial unit in Kolhapur. The girl was missing since Wednesday evening and her parents had filed a missing person complaint with the police.

Her body was found on Thursday morning in a sugarcane field just 800 metres away from her home in Shiye village under Karvir taluka.

Police investigation revealed that her uncle sexually abused her and then strangled her to death. During interrogation, the accused is said to have confessed to the crime.
