Army Deserter Arrested With 12.5 kg Heroin; Part of Pak-Linked Drugs Racket

Chandigarh: Punjab police arrested an army deserter Amritpal Singh, alias Fauji in Jalandhar and seized 12.5 Kg heroin from his possession. According to police sources, he is a key member of a Pakistan-linked heroin smuggling racket.

He was absconding since August when his accomplice, identified as Sartaj, was arrested from the bus stand in Jammu with 33 kg of heroin.

The arrested army deserter was part of an international drugs racket led by Amrit Pal Singh Baath operating from Dubai.

During interrogation, the arrested accused informed that he and his associate had received 50 kg heroin from the Akhnoor sector in August. Out of it, 33 kg heroin was with his associate Sartaj, who was arrested by the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
