Cyanide-Laced Tea Kills 6 Foreigners Including 2 Americans in Bangkok’s Luxury Hotel

Bodies of six foreigners including two American citizens were found in a room in a plush Bangkok hotel. According to Thai police, all of them died due to cyanide poisoning. The suspected killer is said to be among the dead.

As per initial investigation, it is suspected that fast-acting lethal chemical was mixed in the tea that the group drank. Traces of cyanide were found on drinking glasses, teapot and six cups in the room at the luxury Grand Hyatt Erawan hotel.

Interrogation of relatives of the dead revealed there had been a dispute over debt related to an investment.

All the six were of Vietnamese ethnicity. Two of them were US nationals. All of them were found dead in the hotel room on Tuesday.

The Grand Hyatt Erawan, operated by Erawan Group in Bangkok has over 350 rooms.

Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin on Tuesday urged a swift probe into the issue to limit the impact on Thailand’s travel sector.
