Drug Addict Auto Driver Shoots Dead Arjuna Awardee DSP on New Year’s Eve

Chandigarh: A drug addict autorickshaw driver, Vijay Kumar allegedly shot dead an Arjun Award winner weight lifter DSP Dalbir Singh in Jalandhar of Punjab on New Year’s Eve.

The autorickshaw driver was arrested on Wednesday, three days after the body of the DSP was located near a canal on the outskirts of Jalandhar on Jan 1. The service revolver of the DSP and bullets have been recovered from the accused.

According to police sources, the accused was a drug addict. On the night of the incident, the accused allegedly shot dead the Arjuna awardee DSP following a minor scuffle over the fare for dropping him home.

Dalbir Singh was posted at the Punjab Armed Police headquarters in Jalandhar. He was shot in the head from close range.
