Engineering Student Disrobes Herself in Public in Agra as Cops Deny to Act on Rape Complaint

Agra: An engineering student studying in the final year, stripped in front of a police outpost on an Agra road alleging that the police refused to act on her complaint of rape.

According to reports, on August 11, the student had complained at the Sikandara police station alleging that a student doing an MTech from IIT Jammu, had kidnapped and raped her in a car in Agra city on August 10.

Since then she kept visiting Sikandara police station, and the Dayalbagh chawki (outpost) under it, every day. It is alleged the police did not take any immediate action with the plea that they were collecting evidence.

It is alleged that some cops misbehaved with her and alleged that she had done everything willingly and there was no rape. On Sunday, she went to the Dayalbagh chawki and when the cops didn’t behave decently with her, she came out and started removing all her clothes in frustration.

According to sources, while she was removing her clothes, some people kept shooting videos on their mobile phones and the policemen laughed standing at a distance, reported NDTV. A female psychiatrist, who has her clinic nearby, rushed to the spot and covered the distressed girl with the help of her assistant.

Later, the police informed the student that a case had been registered against the accused and also added that the girl was mentally unstable, so was sent to a psychiatrist’s clinic.

Sukanya Sharma, additional commissioner of police (Agra), told reporters that the police had admitted the engineering student to hospital and that an inquiry was under way.

The girl lives at a hostel in Agra.
