Gurugram Horror: 16-Year-Old Strangles 9-Year-Old Neighbour To Death

Gurugram: In a shocking incident in Gurugram, Haryana, a 16-year-old boy allegedly murdered his 9-year-old neighbour and attempted to burn her body. The accused has been sent to a correction facility in Faridabad following his appearance before a Juvenile Justice Board (JJB).

JJB is considering trying the minor as an adult due to the premeditated nature of the crime.

The incident occurred on July 1, when the boy was caught stealing jewellery by the girl in her flat at Signature Global Solera, Sector 107. Both families lived in separate towers within the same housing society and were reportedly on good terms.

According to the police, the boy initially tried to frame two thieves for the murder but eventually confessed, stating he needed the stolen jewellery to repay a Rs 20,000 loan. He claimed he did not intend to kill the girl but panicked when she threatened to expose him.

On the day of the crime, the girl’s father was at work, while her mother and brother visited the boy’s house in another tower. The boy used this opportunity to enter the victim’s flat, where he asked for water and helped her with homework before stealing the jewellery. When the girl discovered the theft and protested, the boy strangled her and attempted to set her body on fire using camphor from the home temple.

A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered at Rajendra Park police station. The victim’s mother alerted neighbours after seeing smoke emanating from the flat. Upon entering, they found the girl’s body partially burned, with the boy sitting in a corner. He later confessed to the murder after initially attempting to mislead the police.
