Instigated by a Cleric, Man Rapes Sister, Cleric Films the Act, Also Rapes the Victim

Bengaluru: In a ghastly incident, a man in Karnataka’s Chitradurga district and a cleric hailing from Uttar Pradesh allegedly raped a minor claiming that they treating her for ghostly possession.

The arrested cleric was part of a local mosque where the girl was studying Quranic studies for three years.

According to police, the cleric convinced the girl’s brother that his sister was possessed by some evil spirits and that sexual intercourse would cure her. He then incited the brother to sexually assault the girl, while the cleric filmed the misdeed. Later the cleric also raped the girl.

The victim was sexually abused for six to seven months. She faced sexual abuse at the hands of her brother and the cleric once a week.

Their misdeed came to the fore when the girl was hospitalised with stomach pain and she revealed her ordeal to her mother.

The victim’s mother registered a complaint at the women’s police station against the accused.

Both the cleric and the brother had been arrested and booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act.
