Keonjhar: In an early morning incident today, chaos erupted in Karadapal village of Bato panchayat, within the jurisdiction of Sainkula outpost and Ramachandrapur police limits in Keonjhar district. The accused in an ‘attempt to murder’ case managed to evade the police by resorting to violence during his arrest.

As per reports, the accused, identified as Pradyush Baral, during the arrest attempt at his residence, bit one of the officers, inflicting severe injuries, before fleeing the scene. Members of the absconder’s family retaliated against the arresting team, further complicating the situation.

Following the altercation, police arrested Pradyush’s mother, Chhabilata Baral, on charges related to the attack on the cops. It was revealed that Pradyush had been evading arrest for an extended period, with a case registered against him under Section 307.

Acting on a tip-off regarding Pradyush’s presence in his native village, Sainkula outpost in-charge Suresh Kumar Majhi initiated a raid to arrest him. However, the attempt was met with resistance, resulting in the escape of the accused and subsequent arrests.

Chhabilata Baral was presented before the court later in the day, as confirmed by the outpost in-charge.
