Police ASI Taking Rs 8000 Bribe Caught by Vigilance in Angul

Angul: A police ASI Nabin Kumar Satapathy, posted at Kiakata police station in Angul district, was caught red-handed by vigilance sleuths while he was accepting Rs 8,000 bribe from a complainant on Wednesday.

Satapathy demanded Rs 10,000 bribe to help the complainant’s cousins in a case registered against them at Kiakata police station. A few days back, Satpathy had collected Rs 2,000 of the demanded bribe money.

Vigilance officials nabbed him while he was accepting the rest Rs 8000 from the complainant. The entire marked-up bribe money was recovered and seized from Satapathy’s possession.

Simultaneous raids were also conducted at three locations related to the erring ASI to unearth disproportionate asset (DA) angle.
